Patrick Greaney

BIAAS issued a grant for $4,500 to Patrick Greaney to fund an exhibition of works by Heimrad Backer at the Contemporary Art Museum in Denver. The grant covered the cost of travel to Austria to select the photographs to be used, most of which were held by Backer’s heirs as well as in various museums in Salzburg, Linz, and Vienna. The project resulted in the exhibition running from September 27, 2013 to January 5, 2014 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, where it included 37 pieces. Furthermore, the project produced a catalog of the photographs and was featured on PBS.

Patrick Greaney attended Johns Hopkins University where he earned his Ph.D. in Comparative Literature in 2002. He has taught at the University of Colorado Boulder and has published works on 20th and 21st-century literature.
