Nicole-Melanie Goll & Georg Hoffmann

BIAAS awarded $25,000 to Goll and Hoffman to study US airmen shot down over Austria during World War II. The project focused around oral history interviews with the numerous veteran groups around the country and archive research in New York and Washington D.C as well as New Orleans, Chicago, and Montgomery. The project resulted in 28 interviews with veterans who were shot down over Austria and along with the archival research created over 40,000 pages of data. With the new information, including 49 previous unknown U.S. crashes in Austria, Goll and Hoffmann gave a series of presentations in New Orleans and Montgomery.
