Deutsches Haus at New York University

BIAAS granted $6,100 to Martin Rauchbauer, director of Deutsches Haus, in order to fund a panel discussion on Austrian writer Peter Handke’s influence in America. The grant covered the cost of travel expenses, hotel, and honorarium for the six speakers on the panel. Martin Rauchbauer studied at the University of Vienna and has an M.A. in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University in Bologna. He has served as deputy director of the Austrian Cultural Forum in New York City from 2007 to 2011 and has served as director at the Deutsches Haus at New York University.

Deutsches Haus was founded in 1977 and serves as a leader in cultural, intellectual, and artistic exchange with Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
