Nick Rutter

BIAAS awarded a grant for $17,085 to Nick Rutter to study Austrian neutrality in the Cold War during the 1950s. The grant funded three one-month research trips to Vienna, Washington, and Moscow as well as short trips to Stanford and Harvard. Rutter’s research produced several book chapters, including one in the edited volume, The Global Sixties, as well as articles on Austrian government’s relation with communist backed civil society organizations.

Nick Rutter earned his Ph.D. in History from Yale University in 2013 and has served as a junior fellow at the Central European University Institute for Advanced Study.
