Marcus Carney

BIAAS awarded a grant of $8,844 to Marcus Carney in order to fund a film project on US bomber crews shot down over Austria in 1945. The grant provided funds for travel to New York City, and Washington D.C.  as well as Hershey, PA for research and interviews with U.S bomber crew veterans. In addition to this research, Carney used the grant to travel to Oklahoma in order to fly in a B-24 so to help create the feel of the aircraft for the film. The project resulted in hours of oral history interviews with veterans as well as a 25 page film treatment entitled Morrow to be used to receive approval from producers for a screenplay.

Marcus Carney is writer, director, and actor who earned his Master’s degree in film directing from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. His major work, The End of the Neubachher Project, which won a German film award, looked at his family’s history and its Nazi past.
