Frances Tanzer

BIAAS awarded a $4,253 grant to Frances Tanzer in order to study post-World War Two cultural reconstruction in Austria and Germany in terms of official re-imagining of a German cultural canon in visual art. Tanzer’s project involved numerous research trips such as to Vienna to visit the Vienna Künstlerhaus and to New York for the Galerie St. Etienne. The project aided in Tanzer’s dissertation as well as conference presentations that will be published as book chapters.

Frances Tanzer is a Ph.D. candidate in History at Brown University and has served as a researcher and teaching assistant at the university.
