Scott Berg

BIAAS issued a grant for $4,694 to Scott Berg in order to research church-state relations in the diverse Austrian Empire in the post-Napoleonic world. The grant covered the cost of travel to and research in Vienna at a number of archives including the General Administration Archive and Austrian National Library as well as to Budapest to visit the Hungarian National Library. The project provided research and culminated in the completion of Berg’s dissertation Empire of Faith: Toleration, Confessionalism and the Politics of Religious Pluralism in the Hapsburg Empire, 1792-1867, in May 2015.


Scott Berg received his Ph.D. in European History from the Louisiana State University and has since taught at the university.
