BIAAS awarded a grant for $3,000 to Katherine Arens to study the philosophical transatlantic collaboration between Austria and the United States. The grant funded a research trip to Vienna to visit the Austrian National Library to examine newspapers and journals, which Arens believed will shed new light on the past understandings of Austrian philosophy. The project resulted the completion of two chapters for a scholarly monograph entitled Squaring the Vienna Circle.
Katherine Arens received her Ph.D. in German Studies from Stanford University. Arens has served as a professor at the University of Texas at Austin since 1980 and has written numerous books on Austrian culture and philosophy.
