BIAAS disseminates information on Austria – American Studies through its publication program.
The Journal of Austrian-American History is an open-access, peer-reviewed, scholarly journal sponsored by the Botstiber Institute for Austrian-American Studies and published by Penn State University Press. The journal’s content emphasizes the transatlantic interplay between Austria and the United States across the disciplines of history, political science, economics, law, cultural studies, and allied fields. As the inaugural issue demonstrates, we showcase scholarship ranging across several centuries, in modern Austria and its historical territories, addressing all manner of themes from migration and international diplomacy to movies and hip hop.
The JAAH publishes new and original work, and also makes important German-language publications or older scholarship and sources more accessible to the public. It draws upon the submission of works from all scholars, including but by no means limited to BIAAS grant and fellowship recipients and participants at BIAAS conferences and events. Read the latest volume online through JSTOR.
To submit a manuscript for consideration, please visit the journal’s online submission and peer review system. Other information, including more detailed guidelines for authors, can be found there as well.
