A Paramount Story

A Paramount Story tells the century-long life story of film pioneer Adolph Zukor, father of the American feature-film and the founder of Paramount Studios. This feature-length documentary, it is not only an intimate look at the golden age of the movie industry, but also an in-depth examination of Hollywood’s complicated relationship with immigrants, racism, minorities and societal intolerance. Mr. Zukor’s story has never been told in a documentary film and A Paramount Story recounts his incredible life and contributions to the film industry. The lecture will cover the process of researching and creating the documentary.

James Forsher: is a documentary filmmaker and educator, retiring from academia as a tenured Associate Professor. He has taught at Temple University, Florida State University, California State University East Bay and Seattle University. His television programs include the twenty-six part Hollywood Chronicles for the Discovery Channel (1990), the eight-part PBS series Changing Culture of the Workplace (1995), The Hollywood Censorship Wars for the Arts & Entertainment Network (1994) and Lost Warriors for PBS (1998). Feature length specials include Hollywood Uncensored and Hollywood Ghost Stories (which aired on such systems as Cinemax and The Movie Channel). He recently developed and narrated the ORF/Langbein production of Elvis und das Madschen aus Wien (2017).
