19th-century Mexican Conservative Thought and the European Intervention (1861-67). This project analyses the perspective of three aristocrats who were involved in and/or affected by the European intervention that led to the establishment of Maximilian of Habsburg in Mexico. Through a close reading of the memoirs of these peripheral figures, cross-referencing them with social and political studies of 19th-century Mexico and Europe, and documents from the State Archives of Austria, amongst other archives, this project delves into their transnational networks with influential figures in Europe.
